Pinned toot

Here's a P2P identity & reputation system blueprint. Happy to answer questions or explain parts that seem unclear.

Just going to drop this here once and pin it in the hope of preventing myself from spamming any of you nice people in the future. :)

There is no reliance on identifying anyone. As you've said, it's futile and can be trivially defeated with sock puppets.

- can i copy this thing to your computer? you have a modem right?

- hem haw no not directly, we don't do that anymore, you have to set up a cloud account first

- wait, what about this new Internet thing i heard of. computers can connect to each other there right?

- well, yes but no, see, we already broke it, you can't reach computers directly...

- okay, i see. clunky but okay, cloud service, how do i set that up

- which giant corporation would you like to keep your data with?

- i don't like the sound of this. can i just mail you a floppy disk?

I thought the argument in this article was really interesting, although I don't completely understand it (gist: lockdowns change the relative selective advantage of more virulent/less virulent strains, but I'll let the article say more than that)

"Last month, we saw more than 10,000 minutes of streaming micro payments being sent directly from listener's wallets to podcaster's wallets using Lightning's "keysend" protocol."

You'll never be able to convince an expert, in any field, about what Bitcoin will do next, because it has never been done before.

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always."

looking at this I had the thought:

"what if gravity was an emergent property of space somehow due to the reduced degrees of freedom from massive objects taking up more information on a holographic plate in a given region"

after googling I found this: looks like there are similar ideas

I am not a physicist so it's cool to see that my thoughts might not be completely crazy.
